BRANCH ENHANCEMENTS

Providing Inspiration and Opportunity

New Library Branches

Over the past few years, the library has collaborated with developers to build several new mixed-use library branches that are saving taxpayers millions of dollars. The new libraries have also been an economic and social boost to the neighborhoods and business districts as thousands of library visitors and new residents patronize local businesses.

Now under construction on the former Martin Luther King Branch site in the Harambee neighborhood, MPL's new 18,000-square-foot King Branch will have new features, such as a flexible community room and a high-tech maker space funded by the MPL Foundation and its partners.

The new branch will be larger, with better access to technology, and will feature flexible spaces similar to our other new branches in the system like East, Mitchell, and Good Hope. Milwaukee Public Library Foundation supporters have sponsored many of the unique features at these new libraries, such as the community kitchen, maker spaces, public art, and fireplaces.
